  1. Cult ? Not sure depends on definition . Do they lie / deliberately make fraudulent claims / suppress counter views ? Absolutely without question.

I have first hand experience of this. I could write 20 examples, but the one I have first hand experience recently is the following .

In TMs marketing video the leader states there has never been any study that says anything other than meditation is helpful to health. This simply isn’t true , there has been several studies. One large one commissioned by the German government a few years ago , who were so concerned they stepped in the stop TM getting into schools . TM will be aware of this . They are also currently claiming they are “being implemented into schools in Chicago through the David Lynxh foundation. But the truth is they were removed from schools within weeks as they were using Hindu chants and claiming they were bespoke TM techniques.

When I posted this in their forums along with a link to the study they removed my comment and blocked me .
They also covered up a stabbing at their own university and renamed it!

They also claim their is nothing else like TM aim the world . Which is also a lie , their is a book and technique named “the relaxation response” which is the same thing. And free.

Why am I bothered ? I researched them when they told my friend to join them in Ukraine for a weeks meditating to stop the war.

Guess what it didn’t work. He hasn’t learnt to fly yet either. Oh yeah they have been successfully sued several times for these claims in the past as well.

  2. Everyone here saying you’re paying for the technique and the teacher to teach it.. Dude they give you a mantra and say to take your time saying it and keep returning to it as your mind wanders.. it should be free. Though I have good benefits from the meditation, to charge that much money for what is pretty much a word. That’s crazy.
