The three headed dragon is none other than the three energy channels Ida (the Moon channel), Sushumna (the middle channel), Pingala (the Sun channel). The second dragon in this story is probably a representation of the unification of the first dragon's heads. When the Sun- and Moon channel is balanced, they rush up the Sushumna channel where they penetrates the chakras (Jesus is hanging on the middle cross/the Sushumna channel which the Sun and Moon energy rushes into when balanced at the Spring Equinox). The Moon and Sun channel are then emptied of energy.
