The meat is very good.
They caught sharks in gill nets while salmon fishing when I worked in Alaska and they would just throw them up on the beach.. it was a waste of life but at least the bears and birds would eat them instead of salmon.
Dude. You miss the point completely. Fishing for sharks isn’t controversial. Pulling them out of the ocean, cutting off their fins only, and throwing them back is.

Shark meat is the last thing I would eat. It's on of the worst polluted organizm in the world. You definitely get ill, when you eat shark frequently.
