There are augmented realities, but dismissing the development of scent technology seems premature.
Korean company was able to create a compact scent device that was able to replicate limited natural scents, and the progress will be the ability to increase the available scents/integration into other technology like TV/user friendly (refills of scent reservoirs) while maintaining a reasonable size.
The attitude seems to exude the fact that VR technology has matured. It's progressing at a greater noticeable pace, but it is no where near developed to be considered mature. Oculus Rift and the upgrades throughout its iterations shows that the technology is a gimmick that current buyers will not appreciate other than as a expensive tech fad. Paying for the right to experience development technology with imperfections at usually an expensive price. How many people do you know own VR sets and use them on a regular basis (everyday or almost)? How many uses do they perform on such device? Issue free? Youtube videos on augmentation has numerous claims that other augmentations will supercede VR in usage and adoption.
