Make student loans 100% tax deductible (not just the interest). The crisis will go away.
here's a solution: don't give out student loans. make student loans illegal, and make college upfront payment only. or change the law that says you can't file for bankruptcy for student loans. so banks won't give them out as readily as they do. but on top of that, i wonder if getting a bachelor's degree is particularly necessary. what if there was a different sort of degree, that is more concentrated specifically for just the courses that you'd need? so it would maybe be called a Concentrated Degree, and let's say you're an engineer, you only take the math, science and engineering classes that you'd take for a bachelor's degree, and avoid the filler stuff that no one needs. that can shave off maybe a year or 2 of school.

Went to community college for first two years and didn’t pay a dime and got about 3k from scholarships to my pocket. I’m starting at a small university in the fall and only have to pay 100 dollars
I view myself as a progressive and side with Bernie Sanders and other progressives like AOC on many things. But this probably the only issue I don't agree with them on. I don't think you should Forgive student loans. If Students loans are forgiven what's gonna stop college from continuing to raise tuition and these predatory loan Companies from giving out loans. And then there is the whole fairness issue like people who work their butt off while going to college to avoid student loans. People who lived very frugally for 2-5 years to pay back loans as soon as they could. I was fortunate to have my parents pay for my tuition granted I also went to a small school as well where semester tuition was $3400 for four courses and commuted from home. Unfortunately my college got absorbed by a bigger college after I left and people who still went to school saw Tuition double.
But for folks who don't have student loans or paid it off it's unfair for them.
It's better to research and regulate tuition than just straight up forgive student loans.
