The Tim Duncan of boxing
Andre Ward was not a fan-friendly type of fighter – but if you know combat sports then you know that this man was a great champion – inside AND outside of the ring. Always trained his heart out, and unlike many champs, he respected himself and the game enough to always give his best to the sport and the fans. His KO of Chad Dawson was to me his most impressive performance. To GO UP in weight, no tune-up to get acclimated to the weight and fight and ANNIHILATE the CHAMP of the division which Bad Chad Dawson was at the time, was extremely impressive to me. Then to retire at the top of your game undefeated, haven taken virtually no serious punishment while cleaning out the best fighters available to you – WOW. Much respect for this man.
