  1. Neil Degrass Tyson is lying. Starry Night is the view from Van Gogh’s asylum bedroom window. It’s based on reality and his imagination. At the time of the painting, Van Gogh was living at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.

  2. This is why I'm not the biggest fan of hyper-realism, there is no room for expression, and expression, for me, is the most important part of art. Van Gogh is the other extreme, he gave you so much more than even just an interpretation, he managed to put his feelings and emotions into his work, and you can see it in every stroke. Reading his letters to his brother about the paintings he made too is just such a great insight into his mind. He's very relatable to me, and surely one of the greatest artists to ever live.
