  1. Joe says “they didn’t know whether their lives would be negatively affected by saying these things before saying it” but come on everyone knows that you’ll be labeled a cuckoo if you say these things yet they came forward anyway so that argument is bad

  2. I worship Dan Aykroyd as a comedian and movie star. I can't stress that enough. But you have to coldly compartmentalise that when it comes to something like UFOlogy. Much as I don't agree with Joe on a lot of things, I think he's absolutely on the money with UFOlogy, and alas, I think Dan is painfully gullible on the subject.
It's an interesting psychological study though, because it reveals how people who are remarkably capable in one area, can be surprisingly lacking in another area.
Like Joe, I think the vast majority of "sightings" can be chalked up to attention seekers, hoaxers, profiteers, people with mental illness, or simply people who so desperately need to believe that they will see whatever they need to see.
The human propensity for magical thinking, confirmation bias and pareidolia should never be underestimated. We really do want to believe very badly indeed. That means you have to be extremely discerning when it comes to something like UFOlogy. And the disappointing, boring end to that long time-consuming journey, is that you are left with a pathetic tiny handful of cases which may not be bullshit…. although bitterexperience has taught you that they probably are too.

  3. I've seen some comments that Joe is being rude here but I don't agree, he's just being the skeptic. Dan is autistic so he's very obsessive about this stuff. I'm on the spectrum too and trust me, Dan wasn't offended by all the questions, I think he enjoys the intrigue from Joe.
