  1. To be absent from the body is to be present with the lord.

Now some churches would have you to believe that this is talking about when we die we go straight to be with the Lord. That is a pagan doctrine. In order to go straight to heaven when we die we would have to be immortal already but in 2 Tim 6:15 & 16 tells us that God only has immortality that is until the Resurrection.

1 Cor. 15:51- Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

Romans 6:3-Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Vs.4-Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

vs5-For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

2 Corinthians 5:6-Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

Yes the belief that when we die we go straight to Heaven or hell is a pagan doctrine along with the theory that God will torment the sinners thru all of eternity in a place called hell. False teachings of the churches.

I hope that your church doesn't teach these pagan doctrines.
