  1. I think Pastor Doug misquoted 2 Corinthians 5:8, as do so many who do not understand the state of the dead. It does not say, To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord– instead, it says "We are confident, I say, and *willing rather to be* absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
I take that to mean that that would of course be our preference, if we had a choice in our present situation. Please be really careful with this verse. 🙏🤨

  2. I had run across something interesting on a youtube video… It has to do with the name of God. The verses on the creation of man; body +breath; the state of the dead, no more breath or praising God…when you breath in and out, yah + wah, the name of God. I found it helps me to understand the verses on death.

  3. The thing that trips up time-bound humans is timing. Jesus was just saying that He (Christ) existed before Abraham and met with Abraham (Abraham saw Him). On 2 Corinthians 5:8, for humans who die, PERCEPTION = everything goes black and the next conscious thought is Jesus in the sky with millions of angels, while REALITY = hundreds or thousands of years pass as they sleep in the grave with no consciousness or awareness between death and Jesus second coming. There’s just too many other verses in the Bible that contradict the immortality of the soul. By the way, everlasting torture in hell is also eternal life, and the wicked don’t get eternal life. God is both a God of mercy and justice, and He would be neither if He did that.
