  1. They give these to you in the county jail if you can’t sleep. I was 18, and bought one for a honeybun. I slept for 32 hours. You literally turn into a zombie. Don’t do it too yourself.

  2. I have a LOT of respect for the fact that Joe Rogan got it right that it was the withdrawal side effects of stopping the anti anxiety benzodiazepine that was what made Jordan Peterson sick.

  3. How long can I safely use Benzodiazepines (Benzos) like Xanax?

    A few weeks.

Why can’t I use Benzo’s longer than that?

With continued use they cause key areas of the brain to wither away; cause memory loss; sleep disturbances; and the inability to ‘lift’ the emotional challenges of day-to-day living. Symbolically: you could say that over time, with continued use of Benzo’s, your brain will need a wheel chair to get around! As a direct result, long term Benzo users find themselves being prescribed yet more and more benzos’; and when that fails, patients will often add alcohol and/or narcotics in an attempt to support their sagging mental structure.1

What is the purpose of Benzos?

To anesthetize your brain from pain – Just like an aspirin or opium does for a headache, or musculoskeletal pain.

If it’s so dangerous, why do physicians prescribe it for longer periods of time?

Because they are really great for business! Drugs in the USA are over-priced – sometimes as much as several thousands of percent higher than the international generic drug equivalent – and that means big profits for the pharmaceutical companies!

I wrote a medical text on this issue which assessed the deaths of about 100 celebrities over the years. The common denominator in the all the deaths was benzodiazepines.

Benzodiazepines act as a torniquet around nerve bundles in the brain. In the short term this can lessen the pain of anxiety and so on. However, over the long term it causes large swaths of the brain to die. Soon the victim of long-term benzodiazepines becomes more and more weak-minded. As more and more of their brain dies, it becomes weaker and weaker. Another phenomenon caused by chronic use of Benzo’s is heightening of pain receptors; and, lowering of pain thresholds that trigger pain. Over time the typical patient will start abusing alcohol, opioids, etc., in an attempt to prop up their weakened emotional stability and mollify the ever-growing pain related to long-term Benzo use.

This is why long-term benzodiazepine use has been banned in the rest of the world for several decades. Unfortunately, the USA is a corporate oligarchy whereby its citizens are subjugated to corporate profits over safety. The US Supreme Courts’ Citizens United case formally legalized corporate-government bribery. As a direct result, government efforts to protect state-sponsored drug monopolies from competition have created a Global Censorship of Health Information. It is clear that the U.S. Government is vigorously colluding with Transnational Corporate Criminal Organizations to push poison in the name of shareholder profits upon the U.S. citizens.]

Chronic use of benzodiazepines reportedly causes chronic brain impairment (CBI) through several mechanisms including glial degeneration, memory deficits including anterograde amnesia, and has been implicated in the development of Alzheimer’s Disease. Initially, the patient feels comfort as the drug anesthetizes their pain. But rather than build up the neuroplasticity of the brain, long-term use of these classes of drugs can cause cognitive impairment, and brain tissue degeneration. In effect, over time, the patient becomes tolerant to the drug, whilst their brain becomes all the more ‘physically disabled’. With an increased disability of the brain, the physician mistakenly opts for higher and higher dosages until the recommended dosage has been maxed-out. One by one, over time, the physician adds another, and then another, medication of the benzodiazepine class to the patient’s drug regimen. In the Michael Jackson case, according to the autopsy and prosecution’s case, the treating physician simultaneously prescribed the benzodiazepines clonazepam (Klonopin), lorazepam (Ativan), and temazepam. On standby was the drug flumazenil (Anexate) should Michael Jackson overdose on his benzodiazepines! Similarly, according to the autopsy and prosecution’s case, the treating physician in the Anna Nicole Smith case simultaneously prescribed the benzodiazepines clonazepam (Klonopin), diazepam (Valium), oxazepam, and lorazepam (Ativan). According to the autopsy in the Simon Monjack case, the decedent’s physician had prescribed the benzodiazepines chlordiazepoxide (Librium), diazepam (Valium), and lorazepam (Ativan). According to the autopsy of his wife, Brittany Monjack, the decedent’s physician prescribed the benzodiazepines clonazepam (Klonopin), chlordiazepoxide (Librium), and diazepam (Valium).

According to scientific analysis, world-wide warnings, numerous lawsuits, and anecdotal evidence, Benzodiazepines, Z-drugs, and barbiturates should be limited to short term-therapy. The effects of chronic use include increased pain, physical illness, insomnia (anyone can write me for free copy of medical text with citations), dependency; a decrease in mental performance leading to anxiety, depression, phobias, compulsions, impulsiveness; and, addiction to alcohol, and drugs (both illicit and prescribed). Frequently, chronic benzodiazepine use leads to opioid abuse. For these reasons’ benzodiazepines are contraindicated in the treatment of substance abuse patients. According to statistics, in the USA benzodiazepine morbidity and mortality, is on the sharp rise. A combined search for benzos and "adverse effects" on PubMed yields a staggering 15,157 hits, ranging from sleep disorders and increased violence among patients to discontinuation problems and dependency issues that bear all the hallmarks of a serious addiction.

Benzodiazepines and Z-drugs both cause continual degradation of key modules of the brain over time – Thus, leading uninformed physicians to mistakenly ever-increase their variety & dosage. “Most doctors don’t realize how addictive benzodiazepines can be for some people and, because they don’t know better, prescribe them long term and without safety monitoring, like checking the prescription drug monitoring database. In addition to addiction and death, long-term use of benzodiazepines can also contribute to cognitive decline, accidental injuries, and falls.” Controversy erupted in 2010 when previously unreleased government documents revealed that despite preliminary research in the early 1980s demonstrating that benzodiazepines cause brain damage similar to the effects of long-term alcohol use — and despite recommendations from the British Medical Research Council that more research be conducted — such research was never sufficiently conducted. In fact, this research was promptly covered-up and ignored in the name of corporate profits.

As the benzodiazepines erode key modules of the brain, the patients’ emotional disability & pain-perception vastly grows. The physicians erroneously respond by simply increasing the dosage and variety of benzodiazepines prescribed. Soon the patient turns to other drugs, alcohol, and opioids in an attempt to deal with their growing emotional disability & pain. As a direct result, deaths by benzodiazepines and opioids are on a sharp rise. Meanwhile, benzodiazepines and opioids prove lethal mix as deaths soar. Unfortunately, the U.S. FDA – a captive to the Transnational Big Pharma Corporate Monopoly – refuses to promote health experts concerns over the matter. "Benzodiazepines like Valium that are used for managing anxiety actually make anxiety symptoms worse," says Tim Leighton, director of professional education and research at Action on Addiction.

The fact is that benzodiazepine drugs have been known to cause continual brain damage for over 30 years. In 1981 research by Malcolm Lader, now emeritus professor of the Institute of Psychiatry, showed that significant brain shrinkage & damage occurred in long-term benzodiazepine patients. His findings were accepted by the MRC Neurosciences Board in January 1982. However, the report was hidden – sealed until 2014! When the findings were uncovered in 2014, UK MP’s went on a vigorous campaign to mount full-scale research into warnings which left millions of patients at risk.

For over 30 years science has elucidated the fact that long-term benzodiazepines cause significant brain damage. Jim Dobbin, the chairman of the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group for Involuntary Tranquilliser Addiction, said: "Many victims have lasting physical, cognitive and psychological problems even after they have withdrawn. We are seeking legal advice because we believe these documents are the bombshell they have been waiting for. The MRC must justify why there was no proper follow-up to Professor Lader's research, no safety committee, no study, nothing to further explore the results. We are talking about a huge scandal here." Lader writes, "Members of Parliament and lawyers," she continues, "described the [recently revealed] documents as a scandal, and predicted they could lead the way to a CLASS ACTION COSTING MILLIONS. There are an estimated 1.5 million ‘involuntary addicts' in the UK, and scores display symptoms consistent with brain damage."

Collectively, these findings make benzodiazepines worse than heroin! The fact is that long-term benzodiazepine use causes significant and continual brain injury.

  4. for anyone who doesn't know, it is BENZODIAZAPINE, marketed as xanax and several other names, really bad stuff, only recommended as a last resort and for only a short period, 1-2 months, sudden withdrawal is an absolute no no. normal protocol is to replace with serotonin over a 6-9 month period under medical supervision then wean off the serotonin, This is not medical advice, for more information seek medical advice from a professional.
