Ari Shaffir messed up the medrash (parable). Here's how it goes: before Gd gave the Torah š to the Israelites at Mt. Sinai, He went to each other nation in the world š and presented it (the Torah š) to them. For one reason or another, each nation found that it forbade a particular activity that their respective societies favored, whether it was that they favored pro-homosexual relationships, eating certain foods like pork š· or shellfish š¦, etc. But when Gd offered the Torah š to us Jews, we said: "na'aseh v'nishma", meaning that "we will perform [the commandments] and we'll comprehend [the purpose and rationale behind their usage]". So chosen status is actually more of a job description than anything else. We're chosen to help facilitate the bridging between the physical realm (earth š) and the spiritual realm. To help lead the world š towards spiritual enlightenment. But we do so via teaching others both through our words and our deeds, not through force.
