  1. As a Jew, I grew up on social justice being an essential part of my secular Judaism. I went to a Jewish high school, this was before “social justice” was used as a slur… it was part of the curriculum. Tikkun Olam and social justice action in our community is what we called it. We protested with our teachers, did our reach to Muslim communities, we had civil political discourse. We felt it was important to embody the Jewish social justice of those who came before. The history of Jewish socialist political action and social justice goes way back to czarist Russia. These bundist Jews started labor movements in America and you can think these social justice “warriors” for helping give us minimum wages, ending child labor, 8 hour work days and weekends. I seriously don’t understand why it has become derogatory for the right to view such action as a negative thing.
