I have tried to go down the rabbit hole with massive amounts of edibles when I wanted to trip and didn't have acid or shrooms. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to do much for me. I don't think I have enough of the right enzymes to metabolize it as well as some people. Patches on the other hand, work good on me. I don't go down a rabbit hole, but I sure feel them. They completely bypass the first pass metabolism so 11-hydroxy-thc doesn't even play a role with patches. They kind of give me the same feeling as smoking but with a nice body buzz.

I live in Indiana, so its not legal here. I have to drive 15 minutes to cross the Michigan border to not be a criminal. That is always fun. Buy and partake with no consequence, but drive 15 minutes down the road, and I can go to jail. For DUI and possession.
Because of that, here, we have those "fake" pot things. "OMG", "SPICE", "Delta 9" (or whatever) "THC O". I even drove an hour one time (10 years ago) to a strip club an hour away because they were the only one that sold synthetic (which was legal, but the real stuff wasnt) which was literally rose pedals sprayed with the synthetic chemicals. Dude got arrested later. Big deal around here, but anyhow.
The gas stations now all sell that THC 9, 0, 8, blah blah blah and from my experience, the only thing to get my higher than just pot was smoking salvia with pot. I had some mini seizures with the synthetics, but no current form of edible, real or "fake" can replicate that.
I think all of this "out of your mind" and "rabbit hole" stuff is just fear mongering. Pot doesnt do that to you. Synthetics will. Its like the crack of the pot world. Pot is just pot though.
I ate an edible that was 160 mg one time. Ate half, didnt feel anything. 2 hours later, getting irritated at my lack of a buzz, I ate the other half. Sure, I was high. I smoked some joints. It really just made me tired. I am convinced that edibles react differently to everyone, because it was boring for me. And tiring.
edit: I know that Indiana is surrounded by states that now offer pot legally, but that wasnt the case back then. You had to have the medicinal card, and even then, face consequence.
Is nobody going to mention that he is completely wrong about what he says about edibles and smoking? Smoking also produces 11-hydroxi-thc. Just much less.
