  1. This shit works. I wasn't an alcoholic, but a huge 1-2 day per week binge drinker. I wanted to quit for 1-2 years, and after reading this book, I did. Now, 4 years later, i may have a drink every 6 months, and it gives me absolutely nothing. The next day, I feel slightly worse, and I notice a drink is slightly craved. That's the alcohol trap, and I know to never fall back into that life of utter suffering and self hatred.

  2. The social lubricant thing is BS. If you need to drink to meet people and have fun at parties, your new acquaintances are going to be in for a shock when they see you sober. I can't say I ever regret not drinking after a party.
