The thing about Hollywood changing movies just for the Chinese market is found in many films.
In addition to the Iron Man 3 example in this video, I can name 3 more:
1) The Dark Knight: the entire movie takes place in Gotham City except when Batman has to abduct a Chinese money launderer from a beautiful Chinese skyscraper that was shown off like the director was a realtor trying to sell it.
2) The Martian: we can’t save Matt Damon in time without the magnanimous help from China letting us use their secret new rocket booster.
3) Dr. Strange: in the comics, Strange is trained in magic by a character known as The Master who is a male Tibetan monk, but since China doesn’t recognize Tibet, they made the character an Irish woman.
