Repent in Greek is metanoeó. It comes from 2 Greek words, meta and noeó which mean change knowledge. Change knowledge about Jesus, unbelief to belief. If you read every verse in the NT that has the word repent, you will see it has nothing to do with sin. Jesus made a total payment for sin, He doesn't need or require us to help. Look up the word repent, you'll see God repented several times in the OT. We know God cannot sin, therefore God cannot turn or feel sorry for his sin. God can change his mind. Keep that in mind when you read those verses. Greek was the most precise langue ever. There was and is no second guessing.
