  1. In the past few years, I’ve begun to think that our brains might be conduits for consciousness as opposed to the creators of it. Consciousness is clearly “of the universe”. Everything involved with its manifestation is carbon-based…one of the corniest, most abundant elements out there. The thing that really got me started with this train of thought was Sam Harris talking about free will and consciousness. Where do your thoughts come from? They come and go, often without any conscious effort AT ALL. Sometimes you stop and say “why am I thinking this?” Sometimes you even say “I don’t want to be thinking this”. There’s an element of consciousness that’s utterly beyond our control and I’m starting to suspect that’s because our brains interpret/relay/translate consciousness as opposed to creating it. What’s my evidence for this? Nothing aside from how our brains think. It’s not a philosophical hill on which I’m willing to die…but it’s something that makes sense to me regarding life, death and consciousness.

  2. In the end the burden of proof is on the person that thinks there is existence beyond this one. Right now there is no really good scientifically sound reason to think so. I have also done psychedelics.
