  1. Believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved..Be baptized and repent of your sins. Repent simply means to turn away from your sins. God loves you and so do I.

  2. I agree that the cherubim represent the presence of God and his splendor. Not enough has been said about their role to "guard the way to the tree of life." First of all, what does a guard do? A guard prevents access to a building or a sporting event for the unauthorized. If you don't have a ticket, you don't get in. But a guard also lets into the building those who have a ticket or the right security badge to get into an office. A guard lets some people in and keeps others out. Many say the cherubim kept Adam and Eve out of the Garden so they would not eat from the tree of life and life forever. But didn't God want them to live forever? Surely God did not send Adam and Eve to hell, did he? What if the 'banishment' was to keep them from living in God's presence all the time due to their sin. But if they brought an acceptable sacrifice to the entrance to the Garden, would God let them back in? Think of the story of Cain and Abel that immediately follows the banishment from the garden. They brought sacrifices to the Lord. Why were they bringing a sacrifice, and where did they bring it to? Abel's offering was 'accepted' because it followed instructions similar to the burnt offerings described in the early Leviticus chapters. Cain's offering was a nice thanksgiving offering, but since it contained no blood, it was not accepted. (Remember Moses wrote both Genesis and Leviticus). Cain's face was downcast when his offering was not accepted. But God then said, "If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?" In other words, there must have been instructions for a proper offering. Abel followed them, and Cain did not. What were these instructions? Perhaps they came from the time when God ended the life of animals to get skins to clothe Adam and Eve? God said if they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they would "certainly die." (Gen 2:17) But they didn't die, animals did. Adam and Eve lived at least another 800 years after the fall in the Garden. Then think forward to Noah. What was the first thing he did when he got off the ark after the flood? He built an altar and made a sacrifice (Genesis 8:20.). When Abraham entered the land of Israel according to the call of the Lord, what was the first thing he did? "So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him." (Genesis 12:7-8). Why did Noah and Abraham build altars and offer sacrifices? There must have been instructions to do so from the Lord. Perhaps Adam and Eve lived outside the Garden, but could come back in to meet with God and eat from the tree of life if they first brought a sacrifice of blood for the forgiveness of their sins to present to the cherubim who were guarding the way to the tree of life. More to say on this topic, but I'm interested in others who might want to comment on these thoughts.
