Well, the problem is that nobody reads a real Bible anymore and if they do they don't take the words of Jesus and Paul about the Holy Spirit and His ministry in the life of the believer for what it says. They read it thru the kaleidoscopic lense of their denominational filters based on what they have been taught to believe by their church, their pastor, some book they read or some experience they have had that has not been vetted by the Word of God. Jesus didn't tell us to just do the best we can and leave us powerless. He sent the Holy Spirit for many reasons that are outlined in the New Testament.
