Trump is right now proving Kyle wrong. Many many people actually want a Messiah Dictator, so it's also left (power to the people) versus right (power to the Messiah).
And before you bring up the Soviet Union, Cuba, etc. let me remind you that those countries don't/didn't give power to the people and therefore aren't/weren't really leftists, as the term was conceived after the French revolution.
There's also ideological differences in many countries, with many people who don't really believe in democracy, human and civil rights, etc. or at least only believe in limited forms of them.

the jury is still out on Russiagate because the administration has obstructed justice and kept documents secret. It will be revealed in 2021 when Biden wins so we'll see. There's nothing wrong inherently with elites – when you see a surgeon you want an elite one; when you get a trade for an athlete on your team, you want an elite one; if you want to cure cancer you want an elite researcher etc. How are you defining elite and why?
