As a pharmacist I can tell you .. FYI The green label Sudafed in the drawer has phenylephrine as the decongestant and it doesn’t act the same pharmaceutically as pseudoephedrine. It is the same ingredient now sold “ out in the aisles” in the US not behind the pharmacy counter
Also decongestants would definitely account for the runny nose or sniffing up action Trump does. That is an intended side effect. He may have a deviated septum or allergies. In this case pseudoephedrine works very well at unstuffing the nose, better than antihistamines at times which cause headaches or drowsiness or other anti- cholinergic effects which may be undesirable.
