  1. "It would essentially gut the health insurance industry" yes joe that's the point. Wasted resources, even if it keeps folks busy is still wasted resources. Were paying extra to pay dudes who sell something that should be free

  2. Hmm… Obama put his name on the affordable care act which Kyle is claiming was actually a "right-wing" plan supported by the Republicans. I seem to remember republicans being entirely against Obamacare and democrats mostly all being for it. I seem to remember Republicans fighting tooth and nail to get rid of it and President Trump took away the mandate which forced people to purchase insurance from these private insurance companies.
So… are we still claiming that Republicans are the party that wants the big insurance companies to make more money when they are the party that dismantled the mandate in Obamacare that required everyone to purchase healthcare or pay a fine? Are we still claiming that democrats are the party that is for the people and against the profits of the big corporations when they were the ones who created the ACA and required people to purchase health insurance or pay a fine?

And it's funny to hear people talk about healthcare and to speak with people from different countries about their healthcare systems. Being in the military, I love when I work with people from the UK, France, Norway, Australia, and Canada. Every time we talk about salaries for service members of different nations, they're all lower than that of US military personnel, so they like to bring up the fact that they get free healthcare. Notwithstanding the fact that active duty service members have full healthcare coverage already, I simply ask them what their tax rate is that pays for that. That shuts them up every time. The last time I was working with officers from the UK, they explained their NHS and the increase in taxes due to it. It's between about 10-11% in order to pay for free healthcare.

Beyond that, the NHS in the UK will only pay for procedures that are on the approved list. So now you have a bureaucratic system that determines what the cost of adding a new life-saving procedure would be to the nation. If the procedure is expensive and they determine that too many people in the country will seek to have the procedure done, it won't make the list because the bureaucrats have determined it will cost too much. Meanwhile, those same bureaucrats can collect tax revenue to come to the US and pay the private healthcare market here to have the procedure done. Whenever you hear about national leaders from other countries coming to the US to get surgeries, etc, this is what they're talking about. They can't have the procedure done in their own country because it would open the door to everyone being authorized to get that same care. But they can take tax revenue and go to the US to have it done because the US has a private market. Canada allows for supplemental insurance for this reason. The supreme court of Quebec in Canada ruled their national system to be a violation of human rights.

I'm not opposed to some sort of system that will guarantee healthcare for everyone. However, none of these people on youtube have come across an answer that will work yet. If we want affordable, universal, quality healthcare in the US; there has to be a collective effort from people on both sides of the political spectrum. If the plan is only made by one side, it will invariably be against the interests of the other side and therefore the other side will seek ways to undermine and destroy it. And all we end up doing is wasting money, time and lives. If y'all want a plan that works, get together with some people from the other side and figure out something that hasn't been presented by either side of the political isle yet. Because every plan presented thus far will only serve to waste more money and strip the choice away from the people.
Also, I thought it was funny that Kyle never actually answered the question of how medicare for all saves money. He said multiple times that it costs less, but he never answered how. He just gave examples of people who claim that it won't and then said 'but it will save money' 'but it will cost less.' He never explained the economic factors associated with how this ends up costing less in the long run when everyone will likely see their federal income taxes increase by more than 10%. That's what no one likes to tell you.
I tell ya what everyone… if you can show me how medicare for all can be implemented and run without any deficits, with a tax increase of no more than 5%… I'm on board. but I guarantee you can't get the cost below a 10% tax increase for an entire country that struggles when they lose one month of income. In fact, I bet it increases federal income taxes in the US by closer to 15% considering how we are as Americans.
