  1. I love how liberals say millions of blue-collar jobs will be created but never talk about the millions of jobs they'll destroy. Yes we have to transition to renewable energy. Most conservatives understand that but at what cost. The fossil fuel industry is responsible for much more then just fuel for our homes and cars…cell phones, tennis rackets, guitar strings, dentures, life jackets, yarn ect. Are just a sample of products that were made possible by fossil fuels and I garentee a majority of people use these things a daily basis. Windmills only work when there's wind. Not very efficient….and their blades that need replaced are non biodegradable so what are we todo with all the old one. Solar. Need sun for that. There are places on earth where it's cloudy 2/3 of the year. Electric vehicles need lithium for their batteries. The earth doesn't have a endless supply of lithium. Its very rare, hard to mine and even harder to dispose of when used up. These are all factors that need addressed before we shut down fossil fuels for a half ass green deal.

  2. I think there are pro's and con's to this argument.

I wholeheartedly agree that we should use climate change as an investment opportunity to create more jobs, better infrastructure for the future and the indirect costs related to transitioning to renewable energy make it a worthwhile investment. I think people on the right just ignorantly fail to see that is actually inline with what they're preaching (American excellence, reducing deficits, creating jobs).

I think people on the left underestimate the fact that we need fossil fuels for manufacturing. The demand for oil and gas is at an all-time high and will continue to be so for the next few years. You cannot have wind, solar, nuclear energy without oil and gas. If we do not get process crude oil in the US, it doesn't mean we'll be using less of it, it just means we'll get that oil from Saudia Arabia, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Canada and etc.

I live in Canada and with our left-wing government, they continue to try to punish businesses by both increasing the corporate tax, payroll taxes while also introducing a carbon tax instead of incentivizing change. This is of course nonsensical and falls inline with a belief by the right that the left simply view money and capitalism as evil and their personal piggy bank.

Long story short, the right wing needs to understand that incentivizing and making climate change economically profitable creates jobs, wealth and reduces indirect costs across the board. The hard left needs to understand that capitalism is the solution to dealing with climate change and that it needs to be incentivized instead of looking to punish businesses

  3. The problem with the Green New deal is not the premise, everyone wants less emissions and more jobs because it makes you look good internationally. The problem is that specific things in the green new deal are not sustainable. AOC tried to fit her whole political career into one bill, and used it to shoehorn a bunch of partisan issues through. If you want to pass the Green New Deal you need to completely gut it and start again, focusing on a solution that won't push a political agenda outside of less emissions and more jobs.
