why would someone that's #woke be against dave cheppelle? has the term "woke" been hijacked and twisted like everything else? woke started out as a spinoff of conscious. thing is.. most people that are conscious became that from many years of studying history, psychology, sociology, politics, and most important….. people and life. a high number of conscious folks learn these things on their own time… not from school… (the last thing public school wants you to be is conscious) now that it's cool to be conscious, we have the "woke" folks… I'm sure many are genuine, but we know that when something becomes cool(because it gets money, attention, or cooch) everybody gets involved. just like locks… there was a time when only spiritual black men wore locks. i clearly remember the first time a saw a brother with dreads when i was young. it was a house party and i was supposed to be asleep. i got up to look around and satisfy my curiosities before being chased back to my room by some adult(this was a time when children had to leave the room when adults were talking) i remember seeing everyone drinking, smoking, stumbling, cussing, etc. everyone but this one brother. he was sitting in the corner talking about politics and religion. looked just like bob marley to me. he was different. he was laid back, cool, and wise. as the years went by more and more american females started to think that locks were sexy.. not just because of the look, but because of the connection between black men with locks and spirituality. guess what happened when the band wagon noticed that girls were looking at men with locks? you guessed it! every crook, drug dealer, homeless man, and rapper got dreads.. it was hashtag dreads!!! now when people see dreadlocks they automatically think crime, drugs and such. this is because of the fad crowd. most people don't even know about locks and spirituality. follow where i'm going with this story? the times may change, but people are(as apocalypse would say) "always the same". i said all of that to say this… speaking as a concious brother who is still on the path myself.. just because someone says "woke" that doesn't mean that they are "woke". has rotten tomatoes BEEN woke? why now? how many times in the last ten years has rotten tomatoes made it a point to say that they're "woke" before giving a review? now they're "woke" all of the sudden? don't you believe it joe. next year if it's cool to be "sleep" they're gonna be hashtag snoozin.. i could write about this for a week and dig so deep.. that we may not want to return… so i will just stop here.
