  1. Just to clarify: Matsui Maeda, or Kode Koma, was Carlos Master, Helio never learn jiu jitsu by Maeda, than Carlos Teach his young Brother Helio. Rorion is Helio's Son. Carlos is the one responsible for change jujitsu to became easier to weak people win against stronger ones. At 1940s Helio was the main Fighter and Carlos the Main Master.
    Rickson is Helios Son too.
The Oldest Carlos Son is Carlson Gracie, who became master of the greatest set of jiu jitsu fighter ever, like Wallid Ismael, Ricardo De Lariva, Dede Pederneiras, murilo Bustamante, Liborio, Carlos Barreto, Pinduca, e Victor Belfort.

  3. The story about how BJJ started is one of the biggest lies told in martial arts. ALL martial arts are about a smaller, weaker, slower person beating a larger, stronger, faster opponent by using tactics and technique. What the Gracies did was Judo. It should be called Brazilian Juido. What many people don't know is that Judo wasn't 90% standing and 10% ground, but 50/50. Olympics destroyed it and then all the Judo Dojos started focusing on the clinch and let the mat grappling fizzle.

You can buy Judo books from the 1950s and older and see EVERY single Gracie technique, i.e. submissions, sweeps, escapes, guard passes. Back then Judoka actually sparred and if you time traveled and watched a Randori you wouldn't be able to tell whether you were at a Judo school or a BJJ school.

The only really new thing that Brazilians brought to JUDO were some of the new guard ideas, i.e. De La Riva. It's all based on Judo pre-Olympics.

The only genuinely new material is 10th Planet's stuff, and that is American Jiu-Jitsu (AJJ) or American Juido. You won't find much of Bravo's material (no, I'm not talking about the Twister which is from Folkstyle Wrestling) in old Judo books. A lot of it is novel, i.e. Rubber Guard positions and his half-guard material.

Having said that, even 10th Planet AJJ is just a variation of Judo.

Japanese Jui Jitsu spawned Judo, and the Scottish Brazilian Gracie family – if you know a Brazilian you understand their pride – wanted to differentiate themselves from their extremely limited understanding of what Judo was, and so they called it Brazilian Jui Jitsu. It's really Judo and Japanese Jui-Jitsu hence it should be called Brazilian Juido.

Brazilians want you to die in the ring if you are fighting a Brazilian. They REFUSE to cheer for non-Brazilians. They chant "You're gonna die!!" at sporting events. They are unwelcoming, disrespectful, and intolerant of all non-Brazilians when it comes to sports. So, there was no way in heck they were going to give Japanese Judo and Jiu Jitsu credit. Since there were zero well-known Japanese Jui-Jitsuka they knew they'd have no one arguing about calling it Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu while they would have had some issues calling it Brazilian Judo – they'd be fighting an uphill battle against all of the Japanese Judo committees and hundreds of Sensei.

So, they took the easier route. BJJ is actually Brazilian Jiudo and is not anything new. Not even the storming of Dojos was Brazilian, Japanese have been doing it for centuries.

Even MMA/Vale Tudo wasn't invented by Rorian. Japan had it a year earlier which is where Rorian got the idea from. The oldest form of MMA in the Americas – all three regions – was a "sport" the North American Settlers practiced called "Rough and Tumble." ANYTHING was legal. You could strike with any part of your body ANYWHERE including the groin, you could fight in the clinch and on the ground where you could use G&P or if you knew Lancashire or other forms of Catch, you could use "hooks" or subs. This was in the 1600s on.

BJJ, MMA and Vale Tudo: some of the greatest lies ever told in modern history. None of them were invented by Brazilians.

    FACT.
