  1. Few problems here collectively, and cohesively. For starters they already made the mature thinking man’s Hulk movie in 2003 that wasn’t warmly received just five years prior that was pretty intellectual probably a little too artsy fartsy at times with some weird decisions but was still very good and borderline great if you just to tweak some other things. With an utterly amazing cast, one that was even better than the one from the Incredible Hulk. That actually followed the comics closer than this 2008 iteration which was a weird wannabe version of the TV series or even the guest appearances in the collective MCU ones. People with poor attention spans who didn’t know the character was much deeper and more tragic didn’t like the 2003 version. And then we got the incredible Hulk the try too hard overreaction made by a kind of shitty action director from France who can’t get good stories or performances out of actors. Edward Norton, who clashed with him who kept trying to take over the project due to narcissism, who was essentially trying to make the same movie that just failed with audiences and that’s not what the studio wanted. He wanted to make an Ang Lee and Christopher Nolan style incredible Hulk movie, even though it had already been made and failed with general audiences because it was too ahead of it’s time or too highbrow for them … and clashed with the studio and they didn’t ask him back. And not for anything he’s the worst live action Banner because he just plays Edward Norton, as usual. Eric Bana played a much better, emotionally oppressed, and awkward scientist, in a more believable way. And Mark Ruffalo played a more affable and likable version in the Avengers. Hulk 2003 is the best and most accurate film about the character. And super underrated all time. And Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, and the Hulk in the first Avengers is the most exciting, fun, power fantasy version of the character from the comics withib a team setting. The Incredible Hulk 2008 just gets lost in the middle because it’s neither as adult, complex or interesting as Ang Lee’s Hulk or as visceral, heroic, or fun as Joss Whedon’s Hulk.
