  1. If Christians are to be forgiving, not holding a grudge against another person, then why has just about all the professed Christians throughout most of their history went to war against other nations, instead of forgiving them ? In the first century, with Christianity in its infancy, true Christians did NOT go to war, but not long afterward, joined the Roman military to slaughter their "neighbor".(Luke 10:29-37) Why ?

Early Christians refused to serve in the Roman army, in both the legions and auxilia, considering such service as wholly incompatible with the teachings of Christianity. Says Justin Martyr, of the second century C.E., in his “Dialogue With Trypho, a Jew” (CX): “We who were filled with war, and mutual slaughter, and every wickedness, have each through the whole earth changed our warlike weapons,—our swords into ploughshares, and our spears into implements of tillage.” (The Ante-Nicene Fathers, Vol. I, p. 254)

In the book The Rise of Christianity, by E. W. Barnes, it stated: "A careful review of all the information available goes to show that, until the time of Marcus Aurelius [121-180 C.E.], no Christian became a soldier; and no soldier, after becoming a Christian, remained in military service".(pub in 1947, pg 333)

So what happened to those who professed to follow Jesus teachings on love and forgiveness, such as at Matthew 5, whereby Jesus said: "You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you, so that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens" ?(Matt 5:43-45)

Those who call themselves "Christian", but still hates their enemy, by pledging allegiance to a nation's particular flag, and a willingness to fight its battles or at least support it in some way, are not true Christians, for just like the unforgiving slave at Matthew 18 who was unwilling to allow godly love to direct him and be forgiving, instead became violent and had another slave who owed him a debt but was unable to pay him back then, put into prison.(Matt 18:28-30)

When the king who had forgave the unforgiving slave of his debt (about $150 million [at $23 per troy ounce], or 60 million denarii, 10,000 talents of silver), found out how the unforgiving slave treated another slave who owed him money, he now became angry and had the unforgiving slave thrown into prison "until he repaid all that he owed", which means that he would remain there forever, for he could not work the debt off in prison.(Matt 18:34)

So, how will God respond to those who profess to be "servants" but takes up arms against another person, showing hostility instead of forgiveness ? Jesus concludes the illustration by saying: "My heavenly Father will also deal with you in the same way if each of you does not forgive your brother from your heart.”(Matt 18:35; Note: God's name is Jehovah, Isa 12:2, KJV)

Thus, how will Jehovah God deal with the churches of Christendom who preach "love" (see Matt 23:2, 3), but have not implemented it, being in the forefront of the slaughter of others at the beckoning of the political leaders, supplying them manpower ? Revelation 17:16, 17 describes what is soon to happen, with the churches of Christendom being a major player in the global false religious empire called Babylon the Great.(Rev 17:5)
