Global morphine supply is running a shortage. Wealthier countries don't notice when the opium supply drops, because we are rich. UN wrote a report shortly into the Afghan war that stated if anywhere from 10%-30% of aLL Afghan Opium just DisAppEared into the black market for illegal heroine sales, it would be a Net positive for the world because, if you have to get through pain, setting a bone, having surgery… the relief brought by morphine is literally life-saving. Oddly enough, Vietnam plummeted in %of world opium supply… I never looked up if the global tonnage increased or if their production actually dropped off, haha…
