I am a Major Narcotics Detective in the state of California. I love Joe Rogan videos as well as reading the comments but I've seen a lot of misunderstanding regarding asset forfeiture and ticket quotas that I thought were true before I became a cop as well. Police Officers, at least in the state of California which I can speak for, do not have ticket quotas. In my 3 years of patrol, I only wrote a handful of tickets and it was only when the violations were so egregious that they clearly endangered the safety of that person or others. Some other officers wrote more tickets than me, but never to meet a quota. Quotas have never been mentioned once since I started. Regarding asset forfeiture, in the state of California, every seizure over $40,000 in bulk cash has to have a clear felony drug sale nexus and for seizures under $40,000 in bulk cash, there has to be a felony drug sale criminal conviction to go along with that particular case of asset forfeiture for the money to be seized. If this is not the case, the money will be returned with interest of at least 7%. Police Officers are not stopping mom and pop people and taking their money that they are going to buy a car with, these are high level cartel affiliated narcotics traffickers that also handle bulk cash smuggling. What is true is that after the drug nexus is proved and the cash has gone through the forfeiture process, it does get distributed to the police agencies involved and the district attorney's office in that county for equipment and training purposes. Salaries are not paid with that seized money. I know some people might not want to believe this, but I just wanted to share my experience. Have a great day!
stop making it sound like Cops steal the money!! Cops write the ticket, the city government collects the monies!!! So if you don't want money collected for tickets, then stop electing officials that push for monetary fees from them!! ASSCLOWNS
