Archangel Michael is considered the Guardian Angel of Israel.

Archangel is a low ranking angel. Those around God are the highest rank. The seraphim and cherubim. Michael kicked Lucifer out of Heaven because of his faith in God. God temporarily gave Michael his power because he said "who else is like our God," when Heaven was choosing sides for the 1st time and 1/3 chose Lucifer. Later when disputing over Moses' body, Michael didn't dare accuse someone he kicked out of Heaven?. Because Lucifer was once the chief of the Seraphim, the highest ranking angels and God took his power back from Michael. Instead Michael said "the Lord rebuke you."
