Joe is full on wrong about black bears. More often than not, they run when scared, and don't stand their ground. They will tree themselves, and exactly why the numbers are a fraction of what they once were. Parts of the Blue Ridge mountians, had zero bears years ago because hicks would go out in droves, and kill them post world war 2 especially.Grizzlies will charge when scared, cubs or not, and have zero fear of humans, and will walk right into your campsite. Bear mace works on black bears. Good luck with other species. I've grown up around bears, my mother was a wildlife rehabber for 30 years, and cared for and released many, many black bears. I literally grew up around them. My father, happens to be from Alaska, and grew up around brown bears. There is zero argument amongst people who have been around them. When was the last time Joe was in the Appalachian mountains? A clown moment Joe. A full on clown moment…..
