Yes, it CAN.
If you are already prone to mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, it will just soeed up that process, DRAMATICALLY. So instead of seeing the effects from it at let's say 28, when it would have started showing effects, you could see it develop to a point that you go full on schizo the very first time you smoke weed or take psychedelics at 18, 20 or whenever you do it.
If you aren't prone to such mental illnesses, you're good, it's not gonna cause you to go schizo, but it can cause a psychosis, which isn't permanent. Still don't go overboard.
It is best to get informed on your families mental health history before doing anything.
Get a trip sitter, so someone who is sober. Do it in a calm environment, where you know where everything is. Day time is recommended.
