Joe automatically thinks that OJ in prison is a good thing because he killed two people, "and he's not out there anymore." Its worth pointing out that OJ didn't murder anybody else the whole time he was among the public. Prison isn't to protect the public, its used as a punishment tool. It's actually ineffective because it just makes the criminals angry when you take their time, and so we create the person that needs to be separated from the public, but instead we get them super mad and re-release them. They could easily council and monitor criminals and get what most need is help and accountability of probation. What we have is a system that creates problems I'm assuming to fund the justice departments. (Policing, courts and jails)
