Keith Floyd is the father of food travel tv. Drank like a fish traveling all over the world cooking the local cuisine. Shows ran from 1985 till his death in 2009. Sadly he passed away from complications due to alcoholism. " his eccentric style of presentation – usually drinking wine as he cooked and talking to his crew – endeared him to millions of viewers worldwide."

What made Bourdain exceptional was not just that he was a skilled chef but, more so, he was a skilled WRITER. Something none of these other chefs are. And most great writers aren't chefs. So he could beautifully articulate himself and express himself in a way that put him on another level. These other celebrity chefs might have entertaining personalities and talk a good game but NONE of them can put ink to paper unless they're writing a recipe.
Before bourdain, there was Keith Floyd.. the true pioneer
