  1. Its mofe beneficial for a southpaw to learn to box in orthodox for many reasons but being able to change stances is a massive benefit, however going from Orthodox to southpaw i believe is less beneficial

  2. I am an orthodox kickboxer, I sometimes switch to southpaw, take Karate stance throw up and low side kicks, I am not great in neither southpaw nor karate stance but it gives me tremendous advantage, ability to attack from different angles, and confuse my opponent, only problem is I go to nearest kickboxing gym, our coach only knows dutch kickboxing, and only trains orthodox strikers, he gets mad at me when I switch to southpaw or use karate stance, I don't want to change my gym because I don't pay anything, I teach coach English, he teaches me kickboxing

  3. I have to point out that the part he talks about Asians having more southpaws is only partially correct. In daily life scenarios, Asians have way fewer southpaws because their parents would force them to change at a very young age, whereas more Western parents would tolerate that. Because of so few southpaws in Asian countries, when kids begin training for sports, the coaches like to pick southpaws because they are so rare and often make opponents uncomfortable. Southpaw athletes (table tennis, badminton, boxing) can gain a huge advantage until provincial or national competitions due to opponents being unfamiliar with their style. Therefore, a lot of elite Asian athletes are southpaws only because very few Asian southpaws exist in everyday life.
