Guys like this ripped off Asian martial arts and stripped it of its soul. Now it’s a pure athletic sport and he makes up his own philosophy. Danaher is a massive fraud too. Massive egos and profit motives make you a trash martial artist. This is why he runs his mouth like a chatter bot he’s a salesman
My school in the bronx is owned and taught by john’s student who won double gold at adcc in 2019. We’re team renzo gracie.

See some comments about Gracie University, talking crap about it. Makes no sense to me. Most schools teach you random stuff on any given day, theres no rhyme or reason. Rener and Ryron broke it down in such a linear, comprehensive fashion, that you dont just learn it, you absorb it and constantly revisit it in Reflex Development drills. The only thing you dont get is the hard sparring against other seasoned guys, but thats why even they say, ideally you need to be training at a school as well in order to truly incorporate it. Thats not an option for everyone however.
What i find funny is that i was only a few months in when Gracie U launched. I had the means to supplement my in school training with GU in my garage with a willing partner from my school. We were progressing faster than anyone, and everyone noticed. When we told them how, not thinking anything of it, people shit on it. Meanwhile the results were speaking loud and clear. Fast forward to the Covid era, and everyone is now realizing how valuable of an asset that kind of training and system are.
Dont blame Rener and Ryron for being ahead of the curve, its the reason theyre so succesful, and those stubbornly refusing to consider new things arent.
I just moved in front of the Renzo BJJ gym 4 months ago after graduation. I've become overweight over the pandemic while in university and every time I go outside I feel like I should join. I can literally see from the window of my living room, but am too afraid to go in there and join the gym. I just started my first full time job and everything so I just think that I should focus on my work and climbing the corporate ladder.
