  1. Sorry, this is a little over the top. Frank Bruno and Tommy Morrison are two title holders with similar records. In his 28th fight Wilder took on the beast that is…..Audley Harrison. To put that in perspective, Joshua who isn’t even the best fighter in the division has partially unified, defended a few times, lost and regained multiple versions of the HW title in 25 fights.

While Rogan is a fight sport connoisseur and reads MMA fights very well, when interviewing or talking about fighters it does on occasion look like PR. This is one of those occasions as was his jocking of Wilder and his power when he had him on as a guest. Yes, Wilder can punch hard as can many guys at HW but I don’t think he is as effective against the larger HWs. Fury is no stranger to hitting the canvas and just like every other time he has he bounced up with a clear head when Wilder caught him clean including one on the way down. Most of Wilders KOds are made up of that Mexican can diet he started his career with and as champ the only elite guy he has fought outpointed him (fortunate to get the draw against Fury first time) and then got made to look like a comeback/warmup opponent in the rematch. Rogan is in so many words saying he’s the biggest puncher in HW history here. Even if that was true he simply hasn’t knocked out the level of fighter you would need to in order to be in that race. He successfully defended his belt a few times but it includes two rematches and some underwhelming contenders. This is Rogan on a PR gig for Bob Arum. As soon as he said that every casual fan and his dog was parroting it. These 5 min snippets from the podcast are The Gospel according to Rogan.

If Wilder loses to Fury again as many suspect he will then he should go down as one of those titleholders who benefited from weak contenders and wasn’t ever really the best in the division at any point.
