Jealousy in families is caused by the parents attitude towards their children. It is not wrong to have a favourite as Jesus favoured John who received the vision of Revelation but its the attitude of that favourism. Jacob was tricked into marrying Leah and Joseph was the only son of love from Rachel Jacob's true love and was also the only one God favoured, at the time, as Joseph had spiritual gifts of dreams at an early age. God favoured Abel prob Adam favoured Cain and having Gods favour eluded him…so anger crept in because of it…Leah could have caused Joseph's brothers to be jealous as she wasnt loved as Rachel was and bragged about her being more fertile than Rachel…whereas Rachel's death was mentioned giving birth to Benjaman for her grief over Joseph was so great and her life so damaged with the intense grief she was glad to die giving birth to another son to replace Joseph for her husband she so wanted to please and mend his broken heart over Joseph. Leah wasnt mentioned here niether..its possible she knew what her son's did and kept silent.
