Always like the evidence based assessment of this conflict where ppl say that Goliath was in fact a giant. A man suffering from the gigantism disease I believe it’s called where the thyroid or pituitary gland make a person extra tall. That condition also brings an abundance of health issues and makes ppl largely blind for the most part.
That would better explain Goliath’s shield bearer. And many recounts of this event have Goliath actually being assisted each day to call out the Israelites. He’d be immensely powerful, but highly uncoordinated and likely legally blind.
He’d have been an intimidating morale booster and propaganda vessel for the Phillistine army. “What am I a dog for you to come at me w/ sticks!” (From childhood memory lol) Can be credited to a person who has trouble seeing who’s approaching and not realizing it’s a mockery of a boy until he’s was up close.
Dunno if it’s true at all, but I always liked seeing science and real world logic combine w/ Biblical events to explain how the fantastic we read about were actually real events. Also gives a more understanding explanation of David being there and why.

How was Goliath able to pick up the Ark without being slain, as the one Israelite who dies from touching the main part of the Ark?
