  1. What Jacob saw in a dream at Bethel while on the way to Paddan-Aram (or about 400 miles north of his home in Beersheba, and part of Mesopotamia), was a "stairway (Hebrew cullam meaning "stair-case", singular) set on the earth (or touching the ground), and its top reached up to the heavens (or far into the sky); and there were God’s angels ascending and descending on it. And look ! there was Jehovah (God's name, see Isa 12:2, KJV) stationed above it", telling Jacob that "I am Jehovah the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you are lying, to you I am going to give it and to your offspring."(Gen 28:12, 13)

Jacob did NOT bargain with Jehovah God, for Jehovah had already told Jacob that "by means of you and by means of your offspring all the families of the ground will certainly be blessed (in which Jacob's "offspring" is the same as Abraham his grandfather's "offspring", whereby Jehovah told Abraham: "I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply your offspring like the stars of the heavens and like the grains of sand on the seashore, and your offspring will take possession of the gate of his enemies. And by means of your offspring all nations of the earth will obtain a blessing for themselves because you have listened to my voice.’”, Gen 22:17, 18). I am with you, and I will safeguard you wherever you go, and I will return you to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”(Gen 28:14, 15)

Note: Abraham's and Jacob's "offspring" in this context is NOT the fleshly nation of Israel [see Rom 9:7, 8], but rather is the same as "woman's offspring" at Genesis 3:15, a spiritual nation [of both Jew and Gentile] that replaced the apostate nation of fleshly Israel that failed to measure up to Jehovah's holy requirements [see Matt 23:37-39] and is the "Kingdom of God" that has 144,001 members; see Matt 21:43; Isa 54:1; 60:1; Gal 3:7 and Rev 7:4; 14:1-3.

Jacob made a vow because of Jehovah's promise to safeguard him all the way till he returned to the land of Canaan some 20 years later (in about 1761 B.C.E.), in which Jacob then said that "if God will continue with me and will protect me on my journey and will give me bread to eat and garments to wear and I return in peace to the house of my father, then Jehovah will certainly have proved to be my God. And this stone (that he also slept on, verse 11 and 18) that I have set up as a pillar will become a house of God (or Bethel, about 60 miles north of Beersheba), and without fail I will give you a tenth of everything you give to me."(Gen 28:20-22)

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are not members of God's Kingdom, for only after Jesus made a "covenant for Kingdom" with his eleven faithful apostles on the night of Nisan 14, 33 C.E., a covenant that replaced the obsolete Mosaic Law covenant (Col 2:14; Heb 8:13), could God's Kingdom now begin to be created.(Luke 22:29, 30; see also Heb 10:19)

This heavenly government (the "woman's offspring") is the means by which Jehovah will restore peace to the earth that was lost in the garden of Eden, introducing sin, so that we miss the mark of perfect obedience to Jehovah (Gen 3:1-6), and will remove everything Jehovah did not "plant" (Matt 15:13), such as the three pillars of human society (1) greedy commerce called "the merchants of the earth" at Rev 18:11, (2) the political system called "a wild beast" at Rev 13:1, 2, and (3) the religions of the world called Babylon the Great at Rev 17:5.

Note: Jesus is not alone the "woman's offspring", for he, as the premier one and heir to David's throne [Gal 3:16] and upon which hinges all of Jehovah's promises [see 2 Cor 1:20], along with 144,000 individuals selected by Jehovah from the earth who have proved loyal to him and are anointed with holy spirit so as to be adopted as "sons of God" [Rom 8:14-17; Eph 1:13, 14], form God's Kingdom and in which Jesus is its leader or foremost king-priest, Heb 5:10; also note: God's Kingdom was "set up" in 1914 as Daniel 2:44 speaks of, with Jesus being "crowned" king of it, Dan 7:13, 14; Rev 6:1, 2)
