  1. You don't need a higher education to be successful, you just need skills. Many of which can be learned on your own and with on-the-job experience. At the rate we're going though, Wal-Mart is going to want you to have a bachelor's degree to work the register.

Skills with your hands primarily, the trades. If you can work with your hands, you'll always have a job and a job that pays well. The problem is, the younger generations are lazy and don't want to work a manual labor job and the system actively dissuades kids from going into the trades and is looked down on.

I got good grades in high school so when it came time for me to get career counselling, the only options that were laid out for me was college because I was smart and had good grades. Got my degree in mechanical engineering but left after a few months to go become a plumber, a job I found a lot more engaging for me and a job that made me a lot more money a lot quicker. Now I'm looking at a union job in an office doing nothing hopefully and with all my experience and engineering I'm going to move way up the ladder and making money I never even dreamt of making.

Point is, college is not the answer for everybody and especially when colleges seem to use their power to indoctrinate people into believing crazy ideas. There are many avenues in America to be successful without a college degree still, you just have to put the time in yourself to learn the required skills and be self-motivated and not become just another corporate puppet that going to college seems to generate predominately.
