I'll say this. Comedy is high risk, high gain. If it doesn't work people will HATE you. When it works they LOVE you. I don't even know if Johnny Carson was actually a comedian. But his humorous quips made him a much loved TV host.When he roasted people he wasn't malicious. I remember him coming out to California and saying some things were hard to get used to. At that time I think the only burger joint with a drive through was Jack In The Box.They had a statue of a clown and you gave your order to the clown statue. Johnny said Ed (Mcmahon) was having a rough time because people would stop their cars and yell they wanted 2 Jackburgers and fries at him.
Winkler was actually a very skilled skier. That inspired them to do the jump the shark episode and it was a huge success
