Saul destroyed himself. That’s easy enough for anyone to discover. He had all of the potential for success to lead the Jews to great success, but his own insecurities displayed through his narcissistic character. It was obviously not a great start that God didn’t want the Jews to have a king anyway.
How he could have held close to David as a loyal ally was a great opportunity, which only a person like him would pass up. What an idiot!
I know David always had to have his place in history, but what would history have been like if the Jews never had their first king?
