They made a mini series of McMurty's Lonesome Dove. That would be a good direction for this imo. a multi-part deal. No way two hours would serve this book or the story well.
If Hollywood makes it, it won’t be the actual story but rather how we should all toe the PC line.

It would take filmmakers with balls to make this book into a correct film. This book shows people, native and white, as HUMAN. That’s not politically correct. The Twitter Overloards would be too upset. They’d demand the Parkers to be transgender, body positive SJWs Mary Sues.
I don't see Hollywood ever depicting the Native Americans as anything but the noble and innocent victims of Anglo European exploitation. Too often our society has a tendency to judge history through a modern moral lens rather than just portraying it as it happened, with all the savagery and cruelty perpetrated by people on virtually every side of the issue.
