How many more natives would have been slaughtered by other tribes before the white man stepped in and said enough? I even asked some natives near me in Southwest British columbia, who were their greatest threats, Rivals and who they went to combat with the most, they all answered, with every tribe or member ofthe tribe questioned, immediately as to the tribes that wished to wipe them out and enslave some of their women and slaughter all babies, women/girls who seemed lazy or ugly, and slaughter all men and elderly! NOT EXACTLY THE "Dances With Wolves" narrative! When you know the facts, you have to make a decision. Do you really think it's worse that these natives were put on reservations and given paychecks and food and security every day for the rest of their lives, as well as those of their offsprin, was this not better than them being subject to being slaughtered by other tribes?
