A misconception about native Americans is they are native or American! Was not America before the white man, they came from somewhere else beforehand so makes them non native by your subversive rules. But now you will want to change that rule I bet. The planet came first so none of us native but besides that the "indians" were just Mongols that came to what they called "turtle island" back then. Talking about myths, you know the villain from Pocahontas, John Ratcliff?
Yeah, he was a real dude. He was a governor during a period of the british colony's history known as 'the time of starvation', so you can tell it wasn't a fun time for them.

His men were killed and the injun tribe's womenfolk skinned him alive with mussel shells.

The man was a victim of Indian barbarism, and the only thing modern people know about him is a fat caricature of a villain.
All the stories about savage Indians scalping people with stone knives, or cutting a man's hands off and tying them around his neck, and sending him back to his camp tied to his horse, these things didn't spring up out of nowhere.
These people were savage and barbaric, to themselves, to other tribes and to the white settlers.
The myth of them as peaceful fairy-people with an almost supernatural connection to nature, who were slaughtered by the cruel and evil white folk, was never anything but propaganda.
