In Australia, Seminaries are called 'Bible Colleges'. One has to get a University Degree at a Bible College before one can call themselves a Pastor/Vicar/Minister etc. in order to (legally) lead any sort of congregation or church. I've got one of those and I will never forget the class in which the Dean of my particular College (at that point the leading Systematic Theology Professor), explained to us all that all Bible Colleges need major funding … and that that funding comes from the Govenment …and that that funding only pours into institutions which respect/worship the mainstream (politically and religiously acceptable) narrative. I guess these days its a pretty obvious connection, but for me back then, it was a shock. I thought theologcal truth-seeking was what one did at University level. I'm so old-fashioned.
