I’ve read just the opposite about drone operators with regards to ptsd, that being so far removed from the physical violence of war that the operator didn’t feel anything. In the book “On Killing” it essentially said the same thing (this was before drone strikes) that bombardiers in WW2 looking through a bomb sight and releasing tons of bombs (presumably killing dozens) has little to know impact on the bombardier vs the infantry soldier who bayoneted a single enemy.
