I am curious: How does someone reconcile an ultra-literal interpretation of Genesis (1-11 specifically) with obvious metaphors in these chapters, such as Genesis 2:24?
“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
Genesis 2:24 KJV
No matter how you look at this, a husband and wife do not literally become one flesh. This must be a figure of speech for having sex or creating offspring.
How can someone say that everything in Genesis is to be taken literally, when some passages are clearly figurative?
I may be dead wrong, but I do not see a literal interpretation of the 6-day creation account as a test for orthodoxy. It is more certain THAT God created, than HOW he did so. Interesting video nonetheless! 30:10
